CHARGES AGAINST HIM HAVE NOT BEEN DROPPED Dmitry's lawyers secured the court's approval for Dmitry to return to Russia, but he must report in to the US Justice Department monthly, and must conform to other restrictions on his conduct, even in Russia. OUT ON BAIL San Francisco, 12:15pm PT, Mon., Aug. 6 - The Electronic Frontier Foundation
just spoke with (EFF attorney) Robin Gross, who is down in San Jose for
Dmitry's bail hearing. The judge rubberstamped the agreement reached by
Dmitry's attorney, Joe Burton, and the U.S. Attorney. Here are the details:
ElcomSoft is putting up a $50,000 bond for Dmitry's bail. Dmitry is being
released into the custody of a local man of Russian descent who shares
mutual friends with Dmitry. Dmitry is restricted to Northern California.
A pre-trial hearing has been slated for Aug. 23. The U.S. Attorney will continue to hold Dmitry's passport, which they confiscated when he was arrested. There is no electronic monitoring or otherwise invasive limitation on Dmitry. |
