Past reports Cryptome, August 1, 2001 -- Dmitry Sklyarov is now represented by highly-experienced criminal attorney Joseph Burton, a partner in the San Francisco office of the national law firm Duane, Morris & Heckscher. Mr. Burton has represented Dmitry since July 24. Mr. Burton said today that Dmitry is in good spirits and is in the process of being transferred from Las Vegas to San Jose, probably to arrive this Friday. Discussions are being held with the US Attorney's office on Dmitry's status and prospects for the case. Documentation on the case will be available after Dmitry arrives in San Jose. and appellate litigation. His practice includes trade secret, trademark
and patent litigation with an emphasis in cybercrime and cybersecurity
matters. Mr. Burton is a former Assistant United States Attorney and chief of
the Silicon Valley Office for the Northern District of California, where
he brought several pioneering high technology prosecutions. He is a member
of the White Collar Crime and Complex Crimes committees of the Section
of Litigation of the American Bar Assocation and former chair of the Computer
Crime Subcommittee. Mr. Burton is also a member of the Bar Association
of San Francisco's Judiciary Committee, the Federal Bar Association and
the Charles Houston Bar Association. Admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia, Mr. Burton is a former lawyer delegate to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conferece. He is a 1973 graduate of Northeastern University and a graduate of the University of Dayton.

I can say only that one of the largest lawyers company in USA is working with this case starting from Monday. It has offices in 20 cities in USA and some more in Europe and ~300 lawyers are working there. I sign a contract with them to defence Dmitry at last Friday, and at this Wednesday thay visit Dmitry in Las Vegas and got his signature on the contract too.
